Hi Everybody,

We seem to be having a problem at the moment accessing the forum. The fault is very intermittent and usually responds with a "Fast CGI Error".

The ISP who host the forum are not reporting any known problems. In any event I do not have access to the configuration of the servers beyond what we run on them so I can only wait to see if the problem is resolved.

I am returning home from France tomorrow and if this problem persists I will contact the ISP on my return,

The forum is almost unusable at present as I keep getting this error:

FastCGI Error
The FastCGI Handler was unable to process the request.

Error Details:

* The FastCGI pool queue is full
* Error Number: 4 (0x80070004).
* Error Description: The system cannot open the file.

HTTP Error 500 - Server Error.
Internet Information Services (IIS)

I looks like IIS has developed a terminal memory leak and needs restarting. Can the Administrators arrange for this please.

Thanks

Susan

I suspect you may well be right Susan.

The ISP are telling me it would be better on a Linux server and I'm sure they are probably right but it's such a small and quiet forum and it's run perfectly since we started it in July 2008.

Hopefully they will soon have it sorted.

Astrid

It does seem to be a lot better now.

I speak from a position of a lot of experience, I currently look after over 1000 webservers (apache based) myself and I have been administering Internet servers since 1994. If you need any help or advice feel free to contact me. I am more than willing to help.

Thanks for the offer Susan.

Yes, it does seem to be running better. The problem, according to the ISP who host the forum, is a problem with my scripts. Except they are not mine, but those of PHPBB who have millions of installations worldwide. And it doesn't explain why it's worked perfectly for the twenty month since we first set it up........

Anyway, as most know I shall be stepping down from the Committee after this year and will therefore be handing over the forum to someone else. Think I'll leave to them to worry about..........
