Sparkle Saturday presented a chance of a bit of nosh, so not being a girl to say no (as no doubt you have heard!), we decided to find somewhere local to the Village for an early evening meal prior to joining the masses on the Street.
Having already eaten at eastzeast Riverside in Town, we didn't hesitate at the thought of giving this Branch a try. Located in the Ibis Hotel building ( http://www.eastzeast.com ), it's within easy walking distance of the Village, or there is a reasonable amount of free on-street parking as well as the car park opposite the Hotel.
We arrived around 7-15pm and were greeted at the door by a smartly dressed gentleman who opened the door and showed us in, where we were taken straight to a table. Even though it was Sparkle weekend, I was the only TV in the place and attracted a little bit of attention, but only the usual light hearted banter from a table of Liverpudlians and the usual smiles and winks from the Staff. The Restaurant was quite busy - I guess around 75% full, and by the time we left, I could only spot a couple of empty tables.
We were served with a drink, and given the menus to peruse, and we felt our night out had begun.
A couple of Poppadums and the obligatory Chutney tray got the ball rolling, so to speak, and these were followed by Onion Bhaji for my friend whilst I sampled the Mushroom Pakora. This was followed by Karahi Fish with Onion Pilau Rice for me, and Balti Garlic Chilli Prawn with Pilau Rice for my friend. We also had a Garlic Naan which was used to mop the plates and ensure that they were spotlessly clean before they were returned to the kitchen. The Naan Breads come to the table hanging on a stainless steel sort of "tree" affair, from which you just tear a piece off as and when you want - quite a novelty really (Hell! I'm easily amused!).
We each had another drink during the meal, however we decided not to partake in desserts as we had a long night ahead in the Village, and didn't want to be overfull. We remained resolute throughout, and were very proud of ourselves when we actually managed to leave the Restaurant having not given in to the Dessert Devil.
The Ladies facilities were clean and purposeful, although one of the mirror lights wasn't working - my excuse for looking dodgy later in the night!
The total bill for the meal as described above along with two diet cokes and two House Rose wines was £40-00 including an ample tip. Can't complain at that.
Now for the bits that matter - is it TV friendly? Yes. Would I go again? Too damn right I would! Would I recommend it to anyone else? Yes.
The man on the door held it open for us as we left, and very gracefully posed for a picture with me, although he was very quiet. I don't know if there was a language barrier, or if it was just that he was bloody terrified!
I'll have to wonder.
I have posted the pic on my facebook page (Paula Falisia) but I don't know how to load it onto here (not too good with technology!).

Thank you Paula for your informative and entertaining restaurant reviews.
I ate at Eastzeast - riverside on your recommendation and was interested to hear that they also had a restaurant in the Ibis hotel. I will certainly try this one next time I'm out in Manchester as it is much nearer The Village than Riverside. As I tend to walk to locations when I'm eating out of the village the wearing of heels makes the Princess St location a more attractive prospect.
